There's never been a time in Halo when we've seen Chief in an actual, full scale battle against an enemy, mostly because of console limitations back in the day, but with today's technology and next-gen processing, I don't see why it's not more than possible. You get dropped out of the Pelican and are straight into the thick of it, massive fighting between Banished and Marines all around you.

You see the opening barrage of UNSC artillery from orbit, while ODSTs get dropped behind Banished lines. You and the Pilot fly through a wall of anti-aircraft plasma, while warthogs, pelicans and mongooses charge toward the Banished alongside you. The Banished, a much smaller faction obviously, sends the bulk of their forces to fight back. The UNSC, of course, does not want a Halo ring to fall into enemy hands, and so sends a massive army to Zeta Halo to quell the Banished.

In the next Halo game, Atriox and an army of the Banished are looking to take Zeta Halo and do, well, whatever. And when you hear about other giant battles in the Lore, like the Battle of the Greater Ark during the Forerunner-Flood war, it just makes you want to experience it in a game, right?
